From typewriters to iPhones: technology has changed how we work.

Veteran school PR person and former school board member Steve Knagg took board members on a rollicking journey through the history of technology, from the beginning of his career to today. He reminisced about film in cameras and a darkroom, IBM selectric typewriters, snail mail, his first computer, laptop, pagers, creation of World Wide Web, analog phones, smart phones, websites and Twitter. He noted "To be sure, technology is also fraught with problems, challenges and gut-wrenching implications that we are only now beginning to understand."

Knagg talked about how he used technology as a board member, including the flow of information, 24/7communication, DVDs, thumb drives, expectations from the public and the fact that technology will continue to change. And some things will never change: the power of relationships, the need to listen, the need to tell the truth, to keep secrets secret, the importance of public education. "We should just relax and be our own natural selves, and keep laughing!"
